My path to founding Granting Progress started with my own lived experience.
While navigating the demands of the corporate landscape, I dealt with my own anxiety, work-related stress, and depression. I know what it feels like to live with a racing heart, a foggy, unfocused mind, and a nervous system stuck on high alert.
When I hit my lowest points, I turned to counselling. It was incredibly valuable for helping me understand why I felt the way I did, and it provided a deeply supportive space to talk, allowing me to structure my thoughts. However, as time went on, I became increasingly frustrated by a distinct gap in the process: the lack of practical, actionable tools to drive lasting, day-to-day change. I knew why I was stressed, why I was anxious, and why I was feeling low. I knew exactly how it was impacting my daily life... I just didn't know how to stop myself from reacting to it.
That frustration and lack of solutions is what led me to explore hypnotherapy.
Instead of just talking about the problem, evidence-based hypnotherapy offered structured, science-backed techniques. It is a framework focused entirely on active skill-building and somatic regulation. It gave me the concrete, measurable tools I needed to actively retrain my nervous system and break out of chronic stress loops. As bonus, I found it to be one of the briefest forms of therapy. It allowed me to finally make progress with my life.
The shift was so profound that it entirely changed my career trajectory. I returned to a previous employer—one which truly cares for its staff at its core—and became a team leader to support and guide new employees. Driven by the impact it had on my own life, I decided to train to become a clinical hypnotherapist in my own time.
I didn't just want to help those enduring those same exhausting cycles; I wanted to actively demonstrate to others how effective, practical, and rigorous evidence-based hypnotherapy truly is.
